Recently many of this nation’s news media filled a week of time with publicity accompanied by accolades and majestic pronouncements for the visiting Roman Catholic leader. Perhaps Bible-believing Christians and Evangelicals who were again recently as July 2007 denounced for their faith by this potentate and his hierarchy should be granted equal time to present orthodox Biblical doctrines of salvation from the New Testament. Contrast and judge the following statements as being true or false:

• Christ wore a crown of many thorns.
• The pope wears a triple crown of jewels.

• Christ said His kingdom is not of this world.
• The pope claims the spiritual and temporal sovereignty of the world.

• Christ washed His disciple’s feet in the spirit of humility worthy of emulation by His followers.
• The pope presents his feet to be kissed, demanding genuflection from his audience.

• Christ carried on his shoulders the cross for his crucifixion.
• The pope is carried on the shoulders of his servants in uniforms of splendor in self-glory.

• Christ was poor and lowly with a stone for a pillow.
• The pope has immaculate palaces and wealth.

• Christ proclaimed His saving gospel free of charge.
• The pope sells indulgences and masses.

• Christ lived a pure, chaste and sinless life.
• History testifies of many popes who lived immoral, depraved and degraded lives.

• Christ taught nothing but true scriptural doctrine.
• The pope teaches some unscriptural doctrines.

• Christ sent His Holy Spirit, His Vicar on earth.
• The pope claims to be the vicar of Christ.

• Christ is the head of the genuine Christian Testament Church.
• The pope claims to be the head of the New Testament church, yet writers deny identity with Christ’s gospel.

• Christ taught His followers to pray to God through Him.
• The pope teaches his followers to pray to the Virgin Mary and the dead saints.

• Christ taught He alone is the Savior.
• The pope teaches his church’s works and sacraments are the way to salvation.

• Christ taught but one mediator between God and man.
• The pope teaches there are many mediators between God and man.
